No Sex at Selfridges, is Gender Neutral the New Black?
The long history of innovation and trailblazing is nothing new for Selfridges, known for having the first women’s toilets in England. This move may be motivated by the increase in women purchasing male clothing and the idea of being ‘gender neutral’ becoming more widely accepted.
A Hood By Air gender neutral creation.
The company, established in 1909, says it will be carrying KTZ, Trapstar, and Hood By Air, among others.
"We want to take our customers on a journey where they can shop and dress without limitations or stereotypes," Selfridges told The Times Of London. "A space where clothing is no longer imbued with directive gender values, enabling fashion to exist as a purer expression of 'self.''
It all sounds like a very amusing and inventive experiment that shows Selfridges is still not afraid to take risks and stay ahead of the curve.
