NYFW Brings Out the Beckhams

Victoria Beckham has mastered her celebrity status and put it to work to promote her fashion line. Before each of her shows she wears pieces from her upcoming collection to give a sneak peek at what to expect on the runway. This year was no different when she arrived at JFK for the start of fashion week wearing camel trousers with a belted side detail and a leopard holdall that inevitably wound up on Sunday’s runway at Cipriani’s in downtown Manhattan.

The show was a welcome turnaround from last season’s disappointing minimalism and a return to Beckham’s strongest points as a designer. She played with twists, volume and asymmetry to bring a freer look to the catwalk. “I wanted to play and have fun; I think you can see that in the collection,” Beckham said to The Guardian.

From knitted dresses to chunky polo-neck jumpers, the entire collection had a bounce that was notably relaxed. Not to say that it was missing any of Beckham’s hallmarks, because the knit dresses had side splits above the waist, revealing toned side-flanks and skimming slinkily over the hips.
