Oriental Fashion Show 2014 Paris – Highlights from Backstage

The Oriental Fashion Show is a fashion show with the backdrop of Paris runway shows, and is geared toward promoting high fashion from the Middle East, and featured the work of Hany El Behairy, Albert Oiknine, Mohamed Al Sagheer, and Emma Meston. Gorgeous jewel-studded gowns, diaphanous fabrics, and feminine silhouettes were the order of the day.

Lebanese makeup artist Shady Zeidan was on hand to do the maquillage on the models backstage. “I work in Egypt, and I have come today to do the makeup for the show,” he said. As he did the makeup for the wedding dress on show, he explained, “The eyes are going to be a little bit smoky. The bride will be wearing a very big, huge dress, so smoky eyes and a darker foundation and a bit of bronzing will be nice.” As for describing the look of the show, he said, “Generally, I feel something for color. Your foundation must be a little bronzed and glowing. The look will be sexy, with a bit of wild eye makeup and nude lipstick.” Individual lashes were used to make the eyes look bigger and last longer.

Egyptian hairstylist Mohamed Al Sagheer was doing the hair for the show. “I have been to work at the Paris show for two years, and I have 19 hair salons in Egypt, as well as spas and academies for hairdressers. I also have salons in Dubai and Doha.” With hair slung into sleek, low buns, Elnett hairspray and bejeweled hairpieces completed the models’ looks.
