New Fashion Sectors in China & The Pradasphere



'Affordable Luxury' in China
Chinese shoppers are embracing ‘affordable luxury’ goods, with American brands such as Coach, Michael Kors and Kate Spade rising to the top the list of the most coveted and purchased amongst fashion savvy Chinese consumers. The rise of this sector comes from the development of the Chinese middle class spending power alongside a reaction to luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Prada combating slow growth through price hikes.

The Pradasphere
Italian luxury brand Prada has announced the opening of an exhibition that will take over the fourth floor of iconic department stores Harrods in London. The show The Pradasphere will be a comprehensive exploration of the Italian fashion behemoths activities from fashion and accessories through to architecture, cinema and more. Apart from the carefully curated exploration of Prada’s works the show will also feature a Pradasphere cafe and a pop up store, which will offer items exclusively available at the show.

Pharrell Williams for Uniqlo
American rapper and singer songwriter, Pharrell Williams is collaborating with Japanese casual wear giant Uniqlo on a capsule collection entitled “i am OTHER”. The collection will feature men's and women's T-shirts in fourteen colors and patterns alongside seven styles of baseball caps. Pharrell Williams designed the collection along with the creative director of UT, the company's T-shirt division, Nigo the famous creator of urban streetwear brand A Bathing Ape. Pharrell Williams will also lend his star-power, modeling the clothing for advertising campaigns as well as providing the soundtrack for tv and motion advertisements.
