How Lanvin has developed over the past 125 years? Get to know the story behind the inception of Lanvin Man

In this exclusive FashionOne video we look at the evolution of the Lanvin man over the past 125 years. As Lanvin gets ready to celebrate its 125th year in the fashion industry we speak to some of the most influential people behind the brand about its success and continued vision for the future.

Lanvin’s objective is to update men’s Fashion by updating and modernizing classic pieces. Speaking to head of menswear Lucas Ossendrijver he explained how they intended to renew the capsule wardrobe for men by simply asking what a young man today would want to wear but without being too serious.

Comfort plays a huge part in the new Lanvin man. Knitwear suits are now easier to wear than ever and when speaking to designer and creative director Alber Elbaz he confirmed he wanted these new styles to be accessible and stylish without being vintage and without being ‘retro’. Similar to the Lanvin women collection, the accessories are kept simple and outfits undertake a dual purpose. Having only worked with womenswear before Elbaz went on to explain his decision process for what he should take with him over the to the menswear.

Lanvin’s menswear collections are not just meant for the catwalk – they are to be worn everyday. They encapsulate freedom and creativity. The Lanvin man can go from wearing a suit one day, to sports clothes the next, to something a bit more adventurous. It’s all about the man. This is the reason why Lanvin’s recent mens collections are truly modern.
