Oceans of Tulle and Elegant Youth at the Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Show

Fashion One brings you Giambattista Valli’s Paris Haute Couture collection for spring/summer 2015 which included the stunning pink gown worn by Rihanna to the 2015 Grammy Awards.

Take a look at the models undergoing hair and makeup backstage and the VIP guests arriving at the show. We spoke to the designer who told us about his inspiration and concept for his latest creations: an imagined conversation between the ultimate Parisienne Coco Chanel and the free spirited hippy Janis Joplin. The contrast and balance between the two women and a fantasy image of them walking in the Tuileries Garden, mixing amongst other women having various conversations and this universe continuing to expand.

The models wore black veiled headbands with the range of long gowns, dresses and occasional trouser suits. Classic black and ivory pieces preceded bright floral embellishments and muted acid tones of pinks and greens gave a very fresh and youthful spring vibe. The baby pinks and pastel limes and mint were described as psychedelic colours that might have been faded by the sun, from the strolls in the gardens of Paris.

Seas of tulle and semi transparent layers gave dreamlike volume to skirts whilst high ruffled necklines and shoulders sprouted from otherwise sleek silhouettes. Elegant belted floor length dresses were shown amongst playful party frocks and more sophisticated two piece ensembles with sequined detailing on lapels and necklines.
