American Music Awards Fashion Recap

November 20th were the 2011 American Music Awards held in Hollywood, California at the Nokia Theater. Yes, they are to honor the achievements of today's hottest musicians, but before the awards were passed out and sizzling performances took stage, all of our favorite celebrities walked the red carpet. Today we recap the best and worst fashion from last night. Katy Perry arrived in a pale pink Vivienne Westwood gown. While we didn't love the red lipstick contrasting with her pink hair and pink dress we did adore the detailed floral head piece she rocked in place of any statement jewelry. Fashion Grade: A- Hollywood's youngest sweethearts stepped out in classic Hollywood glamour. Selena Gomez looked sophisticated in a satin Giorgio Armani gown while Justin Bieber sported a dapper new hair style with his black suit and bow tie. Of course he melted our hearts by carrying the train of his darling girlfriends gown so she wouldn't trip and fall (except more in love with him.) Fashion Grade: A+ Jennifer Hudson showed off her slim, but still curvy figure in this silver Jenny Packham mini. While we love the metallic color of the dress we wish she would have done more with her hair or jewelry. She looked lovely, but we were a bit underwhelmed with the look overall look. Fashion Grade: B We're not really sure how Phoebe Price scored an invite to the American Music Awards, but she was there.....and she wanted to make sure EVERYONE knew it. There is so much wrong with this outfit. We want to give her props by taking a risk, but there is just too much going on. We wish the dress was shorter and that she would have picked either the hat OR the vest NOT both. We do love that she went black and white with her bold red hair, but sadly that is the only positive thing we have to say about this look. Fashion Grade: D- Singer Mario stepped out of basic black for this grey suit. We think it would have been better with a tie instead of a bow tie. The bow tie gives it a bad early 90's wedding vibe. Fashion Grade: C+ Mr. Clean + a genie + Edward Scissorhands = Kraven At least that's how we felt. Let's hope his music is a lot better than this outfit. Fashion Rating: F Yeeeaaaahhhhh. While we love Lil Jon and his music this outfit is only half working for us. Looks good from the waist up, but those pants are not flattering and the shoes seem better fit for shoveling snow. Nice peacoat though! Fashion Grade: B- Heidi Klum did the rd carpet right in this cut out Giles Deacon dress. The dress was extremely detailed and she was smart to keep her hair simple and choose a smokey eyes to go with her black shoes. It's always tricky to wear detailed dresses like this the right way without letting the dress take the spotlight. Heidi did it right. Bravo! Fashion Grade: A Taylor Swift looked ever to grown up lady in this sparkling gold gown. It was a nice change of pace to see her normal curls in a sleek, straight pony tail. We do wish though that she would have went with different earrings. They are a bit flat compared to her dress and we feel a blue hue would have made her eyes pop more. Fashion Grade: A Robin Thicke, we love you. Have we told you that lately? The singer looked amazing in his grey plaid jacket. We love that he skipped the tie and added some necklaces with a basic white t-shirt. It was very vintage meets modern rock and roll. But please Mr.Thicke, leave the glasses at home next time. Don't cover up that handsome face! Fashion Grade: A+
