Red Carter at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013

The MBFWS runway show for Red Carter was action-packed and graced with innovative designs. The designer was inspired by architecture, geometric shapes and the glitter and glam of disco. The bold color palette included bright colors like summertime teal, orange and magenta, as well as graphic black, white and grey tones. Red Carter’s inspiration was evident in geometric jewelry and accessories, art-deco motifs, and the metallic fabric used throughout the swim collection. Bandeau tops or elongated bodices were paired with side strapping hipster bikini bottoms. Unique criss-crossing strapped one-pieces also completed the list of fashionable suit silhouettes. There was a feeling of elegance mixed with retro-glamour evident throughout the presentation. These traits were exemplified by gold details, beaded embellishments and sheer illusion patterns. Traditional cover-ups such as capes and kaftans topped off interesting linear designed suits. Sheer wide-leg pants also made an appearance, proving to be a popular trend for beachwear. True showstoppers were magnanimous headpieces, decorated with long feathers, or giant red wings worn by models. This addition offered a bit of grandeur that was lacking from other shows.
