Karl Lagerfeld to design line of jelly shoes with Melissa Presented by Fashion One

Following on from Vivienne Westwood, Gareth Pugh and Jason Wu, Brazilian plastic shoe company Melissa will collaborate with Karl Lagerfeld.

Karl Lagerfeld has signed up to design four seasons of shoes with the brand. The first capsule collection will be unveiled in March 2013. "Karl's design talent synonymous with couture has been translated into footwear, bridging the gap between high-end and commercial," said Paulo Pedó, Melissa CEO.

"We are very excited about the partnership with Melissa who have been great in translating Karl's inspirations and designs into truly iconic and fun fashion products that many women in the world will happily wear," added Pier Paolo Righi, CEO of Karl Lagerfeld.

Melissa's multicolored plastic shoes have proved a hit with consumers around the world, and the company has previously worked with other high fashion talent for capsule collections.

Alongside Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld is also designer for the Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld labels. He has produced collections for Italian shoe brand Hogan and in 2004 became the first designer to collaborate with high street fashion chain H&M.
