Looks of the day: Reese Witherspoon, Amanda Seyfried, Elijah Wood

The first installment of Peter Jackson's new Hobbit series had its premiere in New York City with the stars of the film hitting the red carpet to promote the movie. Celebrities also turned up in glamorous outfits for charity galas in New York, Los Angeles and London. Here's our selection of the looks of the day.

Actress Amanda Seyfried wore an Alexander McQueen dress to the Sun newspaper's 2012 Military Awards at The Imperial War Museum in London. Amanda finished her look with shoes by Rupert Sanderson.

Liv Tyler

'Lord of the Rings' actress Liv Tyler was out to support 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' in New York City. Liv wore this black playsuit and blazer with hot red shoes and lipstick.

Elijah Wood

'Frodo' arrived at 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' premiere in New York City. Actor Elijah Wood wore a Black Fleece by Brooks Brothers suit, a white button-down shirt and tartan tie. We like the classic lace-ups and white pocket square.

Myleene Klass

Singer and TV host Myleene Klass attended 'A Night of' Heroes: The Sun Military Awards' 2012, at London's Imperial War Museum. Myleene wore a one-shouldered peach gown for the event.

Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra wore a Robert Rodriguez dress after appearing on 'The Wendy Williams Show' in New York City. Carmen matched her dark nails to her shoes and wore gold accessories for the TV appearance.

Michelle Monaghan

'Gone Baby Gone' actress Michelle Monaghan was on the red carpet for the 'Beat The Odds Awards' hosted by the Children's Defense Fund in Los Angeles. Michelle wore polka dot silk pants with a print blouse and a leather blazer for the charity event.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon was also at the 'Beat The Odds Awards' in Los Angeles, CA. We love her black Elie Saab lace panelled dress and Christian Louboutin heels.
